I'm Having A Casey Kasem Moment....

And now it's time for our long distance dedication. Elastic says that No Cool Story has been a terrific blogger friend for only a few short months but she feels like they've known each other, for like, forever, and stuff. Elastic has endured life as a musical orphan for many years as her acquaintances curl up their lips and snidely ask, "Just what is that music that you're listening to now?" Now, finally she knows somebody that appreciates and shares her eclectic if not irreverent musical tastes. No Cool Story, this song is dedicated to you.
KWAN-Diamonds
KWAN hails from Finland and let me just say that there is nothing sweeter than Finnish fusion rock. This is the Infidel Jam Of The Week since I suffer from a woefully short attention span, and..........I like Twinkies on a moonlit night but sometimes I wear my plaid skirt with go-go boots just to mix it up.......wait, what were we talking about again? Oh yeah, I LOVE this band, KWAN, because they incorporate a little of everything into their music to create an atmospheric sound like no other I've heard stateside. Give it a least a minute to hear the main chorus and to snicker at the lead singers nose piercing. Apparently, looking like a raging bull is all the rage in Finland this year.

NCS, are you enjoying a moment of unbridled jubilation that UPOP is back on the air like I am? How ahead of the musical curve are we? Miss Biotech Goddess and I both love Royksopp too, and now they're using them for Geico commercials. My girls and I adore Goldfrapp and Target tapped their song, "Fly Me Away," for their ad. We knew about these acts eons ago, and I feel really smug about it too.

Ooh! I love that band! How exactly does one get into Finnish fusion rock anyway?

And by the way, thanks for being the first comment on my blog!

EWBL is not only about bringing rapturous joy to all humanity one fart joke at a time, BUT fabulous music one weekly post at a time as well.

Awww, I feel so loved and international.
UPOP was sorely missed while Christmas took over, you never know how good you have it until it is gone.
Just what is that music that you're listening to..?”, I know. I was closeted alternative music lover for a while, sure that I was alone in my world.
Before XM I listened to 94.7 FM, they live stream, and an awesome playlist. Made me feel not so alone.

Until you came along EWBL.

Mini Me, age 5, listens to an old NSync cd that I have, in her room. Where did I go wrong?!

You can add a chat function to blogs but I must admit I am a bit wary of chatrooms after my experience of Further Left. the clone of my old yahoo id still exists (although the id it cloned doesn't).

I much prefer the blogosphere. with one or two minor exceptions I have found it to be a much better place to spend time. You have a great community ewbl and that makes it all worthwhile that and the chance to share Finnish fusion rock ( or in my case loads of Robyn and Hawkwind!)

carol- XM Satellite Radio has shone thy path to musical glory and greatness. They play commercial free music from around the world. Diamonds is no one hit wonder fluke song from KWAN either. They also SHINE and lament about Tainted Love. I'm the first commenter on your blog? Sweet! I've boldly gone where no other blogger has gone before!

dem- I'm freakin OLD, okay? Besides, how can I not pay homage to the man who's the voice of Shaggy? Like, ZOIKS!

NCS- So, you're officially out of the closet, are you? What will your super duper Mormony friends think of you now? *GASP*!

rhonda- Don't feel slighted, rhonda. Do you like Finnish rock too? Fine, then I dedicate this video to you also! Yes, I've been drinking......Abuelita hot chocolate.

A Payne- My 9 year old son kept my D.C. Talk CD and the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever. He's both a 'Jesus Freak' and a Bee Gees fan now. Should I be worried? Do you think Elizabeth will give me a gift certificate for free therapy for my kid? By the way, I always thought JC was the hottest in N'Sync, not Justin Timberlake.

carrot- You felt the groovealicious funk in that song, carrot. Don't try to deny it and stifle the Finnish rock music lovin side of you.

jams- I blog because I don't play well with others. That's a requisite for forum chat and I just don't have it. Straight up and honestly jams, tell me what you thought about KWAN. I know its not your style but it's refreshing, is it not? Much better IMO than other mainstream fusion acts like Linkin Park.

NCS- Youtube doesn't have my Monkey's favorite song anymore but I found it elsewhere. Thanks to XM54 Lucy, Monkey has become enamored with Nick Heyward and his awesome song, KITE. Love the song, love Nick, love his overbite too!

I did not really see any raging bulls when I was recently in Helsinki. However I was not invited to any dance clubs and somehow completely missed the Finnish fusion rock scene. For some reason that was not on our tour agenda. Now I'm disappointed.

Guess I'll have to go back. Want to come with me?

I can see the shine
I can see the shine in you
I can see it in your eeeeeeeeyes...

May your children always have a sophisticated taste in music. May they be light years ahead of the masses. May XM reign forever and ever. May closeted alternos be not afraid to share their music with non-believers.

Abuelita, hmmmm.

So they're saying, "Diamonds... something the river... something..."

I'm happy you and NCS have found each other. And now I'm going to crawl back into the 80s where I belong. :)

Me too Millie. I'm an 80's pop girl. None of this weird ethnic music for me.

Just came back from the mall. The one thing I like about going in American Eagle is they often show good videos, like Goldfrapp. I was like "Ooh La La". And I thought of you.

Back in the 80's while my friends were worried about the new Menudo band member, I was listening to The Cure, by myself, in the closet.

compulsive writer- Only if that Pizz place is included in the itinerary. I want to tell people that I went to Finland and ate Pizz!

NCS- Amen Sister Cowbell. Amen. Keep preachin tha gospel. Hallelujah!

millie- Theres plenty of room on this Crazy Train. Don't be frightened, hop aboard. Complimetary peanuts and Shasta
for everybody!

carrot- 80's pop? Wow, that's some OLD soda. Doesn't it get all flat and stale? Do you like it so you can get drunk on fermented apple soda and sneakily bypass the Word Of Wisdom?

NCS- I like how you clarified "Menudo band member", otherwise I would have been worried myself with thoughts about who was put into the Menudo next. Hijole!

Actually it isn't bad ewbl. Linkin park were a joke (holding crotch while waving arm in the air, come on! That's not remotely fly even for a white boy!) It hand an 80s feel so it felt rather familiar to me.

I have a thing about anything produced after 1984. With a few exceptions, unless it's Al, U2 or BNL, it sucks. It's my handicap in life and I've learned to live with it.

Considering that no one in Finland has anything but a mouth and tip of nose (or maybe that was just filming gone wrong...), I see the appeal of massive nose jewelry, though, to my American sensibilities, seems awfully germ-ridden.

Sure we can eat at Pizz Burger, but I wouldn't recommend the titbits.

I was going to make the comment that Kwan could be the next ABBA but then I goggled ABBA and they are from Sweden not Finland.Oh well.By the way that name "Kwan" is so Jerry Mcguire.

Ok, I was just about to ask if this was ex-Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan's spin-off band and argue that they weren't finnish, but that's ZWAN, not KWAN.

Goldfrapp's a band I should love, but I'm so lazy about music. They should build a target here, just so I can listen to the song.
