My Lastic Wants To Party All The Time, Party All The Time, Party All The Time!

Where else but The Smiling Infidel will you find an Eddie Murphy song for a birthday weekend theme? Go on and click the title to see what I mean.

Guess what the entire Infidel clan did on Saturday afternoon. Go on......... Guess! Yes, we spent it at a very exciting dance recital where my little Caterpillar performed with her class. The theme revolved around all things Radio Disney and Caterpillar's group shook it to 'Be True To Your Heart,' and 'What I've Been Looking For' from the movie, 'High School Musical.' Initially, I was none too thrilled at the black velvet and mesh, belly button-baring costumes that set me back 40 bucks. However, after seeing the downright trampy outfits the other girls had to wear, I felt immediately grateful that Caterpillar had something much more modest to prance around in that didn't expose her or cause massive wedgies. At the rehearsal dance I noticed all the fabulous bows atop her classmates long streaming ponytails. Caterpillar didn't have any, but the other moms told me where to go to buy one so that my Caterpillar could be a little princess clone along with their daughters. It cost a freakin 7 dollars for some wadded up ribbon! WTH? I decided to rifle through my obscenely mammoth ribbon bag and pull something together myself. I did. I saved 7 dollars and made something a lot cuter. You see, necessity isn't the mother of invention, being BROKE is.

As if the afternoon could get any more exhilarating, Caterpillar received her dance trophy. Yes, go on and stare in shock and disbelief at the hideousness of it. It's a bobbleheaded ballerina that doubles as a very special Exorcist Ballerina when you turn her head all the way around. Pea soup not included.

My super cute 5 month old nephew, Peyton Nathaniel, came to stay with us for the entire weekend and celebrate the grandiose birthday of his Smiling Infidel Aunt. My Dad and step-mom treated me to a fabulous dinner at our favorite Colombian restaurant. There's no greater love in this world than a father buying his daughter a succulent South American styled steak (alliteration!) on her birthday. I know what you're all thinking, but, no, my dad isn't a professional Dom Deluise impersonator. Although, he is thinking about auditioning for the 'Cannonball Run' remake.

The weekend of Infidel birthday love and adoration finished with a chocolate swirled cheesecake just for me. Awwww, don't you just love happy endings?

FIN

Tomorrow brings a posting brought to you live and in person from under the enormous cavalcade of Good Mail Girl stuff I've received. Yeah, a cavalcade!

Happy (belated)Birthday! Your bow is cute - I have alwasy said that I would be totally broke if I had a girl, they have so many accessories! My boys have Sunday shoes and play shoes and that's it... I do spend a lot of hair gel though.

You know what I love the most about the Mini-Infidels? It's that they smile so big and happy. How did you trained them to do that EWBL? Firstborn won't smile for NUTHIN', not even when he was little.

Not a mention of the phone call that capped off your birthday. I guess it meant more to me. I thought we had something. *sigh* Oh well.
Great post, keep them coming.
P.S., your kids are darling.

Oh wait, I meant to say...
Good observation, your ideas are right on....

Toni- Tonight I get to feast with my Mom down at a Japanese buffet that features King crab legs! Divorce is a bad thing, but in my case it means I get TWO parental birthday meals out of it.

tori- I'm your only friend, I'm not your only friend, but I'm a little glowing friend, but really I'm not actually your friend........but I am! A blogging and Good Mail friend. So yeah, tell me that I'm the only bee in your bonnet.

NCS- Well its nicer than the "Rachael Ray Must Die" T-shirt that I wanted for Christmas.

RAJ- Did you see the eyes, RAJ? The eyes, the EYES! I think Ballerina Trophy may be sent to live on the garage shelf along with our creepy Elmo doll that blurts out "Tickle Me! Tickle Me!" even when nobody is around to push the talkie button.

Omar- You jealous or sumthin? What, do you want me to have a bag dedicated to Omar? Okay, anything to make you, Omar ,The Most Wonderful Blog Creator On High, happy. One plastic shopping bag dedicated to nothing but Omar and Omar goodness.

Jams- The Jackson 5 said it best when describing my wee little Caterpillar. "Dancing, dancing, dancing........she's a Dancing Machine!"

on the run- And then I buy a buttload of shoes for my girls and they misplace them. Do you know that I had to fall on the mercy of the Collins family because Nattie lost her black ballet slippers the day before the recital and Wal-Mart and Target were sold out? Yeah. All that dance stuff doesn't come cheap either. If you look at the picture, Rachel is the blonde dancing on the left side of Natalie.

burg- I wanted electrolysis. *sigh* It's still the tweezer life for me.

b.- The girl can keep rhythm and tempo and performs gracefully. That came from her super suave dancing Latino Daddy, not from dorky me.

NCS- My Mini-Infidels are 100% Mexi-American Cheese! It must be cultural because all of Papi's childhood photos showed him with a very stern and serious face like he just sat in poo.

carrot- What? Didn't you find my blog to be inquisitive? Don't you want to flood the comment box with LOL's? Didn't my post make you fall over with an LOL overdose? Some people are just never happy.....
I wanted to keep our conversation on the down low just in case my blog is still under surveillance. I don't want you to be subjected to extreme tickle torture for you to release all my deepest, darkest secrets that I revealed to you on Sunday. It's for your own good, carrot.

Oh yeah I see her, Joe use to tell me all the time that he was going to marry Rachel after his mission - I would be just fine if that really happened.

You grow some good looking kids down there in Texas. I love family get-togethers. Especially when presents and cake are included.

You ARE the only bee in my bonnet. And I don't mean that in a Gay Tuesday way.

on the run- My Joshua has had a crush on a Rachel (Lopez) at church since they were in Sunbeams together. One time she showed up at a Halloween Party dressed as a Queen and Joshua went as King Arthur. Rachel immediately insisted that Joshua stay by her side since they were King and Queen. I've never seen that boy so happy. He once told me that he was going to take her to Pancho's Mexican Buffet for their wedding dinner. He's a romantic like his daddy.

barn- I like bobbleheads. I like trophies. Just not together.

carronin- Gracias! My little chillens didn't have to suffer a home cooked meal and their grandpa let them order whatever they wanted unlike stodgy mom who tells them that soda is too expensive to order at a restaurant. Of course, they're smiling and happy!

tori-Well, not to put too fine a point on it, but that song makes me feel gay all over!
