The Delays - Valentine

Our musical obsession of the last few months revolve around all things, The Delays.

This psychedelic video is a visual masterpiece and the peppy song makes me want to don some leg warmers and do aerobics. There's just something so oddly feminine and sweet about the lead singer too. It's a classic that I guarantee won't garner much deserved American airplay. Valentine also became the official World Cup Soccer theme this summer for the BBC.

I know who you are and I know that you don't click on you tube links posted on blogs. You'll regret not listening to this at least once though. Do you really want to chance living with a lifetime of regret? I didn't think so. Push the play button already.

I like it a lot. I don't listen to much radio or watch music tv channels either so a lot of new music passses me by. I will investigate further.

I see they are from Southampton. I did my Bachelors degree at Southampton University (81-84). I can imagine they gigged quite often at the Joiners Arms

I have to ask: is that a boy or a girl? I know that's an unenlightened typical American-consumerist ignorant of the death and destruction I'm causing-type of question...

(patrick/f.r.q., as usual, you make me laugh....)

hey, elastic, I think you need to petition your local Kroger's to put this one on their playlist and nix the Pina Colada song. Couldn't ya just see Matzo Man cruising the aisles to "Valentine"?

i think wendela's trying to get you hit on

if you are bent on visiting your local Kroger to get this on their playlist, you should do that dressed like a go-go dancer version of "The Flying Nun"

this is a special alert from the smiling infidel's protection unit:)

Coming from your usual classic rock leanings, "not bad", is highly complimentary.

My 10 year old daughter has a huge crush on the lead singer, jams. I think it's because they appear to be about the same age. Hey, I live next to a neighborhood called Northampton. I don't think they've produced any cultured accountants from Essex or a pop-rock band though. Their only output seems to be hordes of cookie cutter metrosexual, monochromatic pastel dressed executives and their soccer mom, Volvo driving wives.

obokun, Did the captivating rhythm of this song make you helplessly shake your moneymaker? Because that's the mark of a truly great piece of music.

tom and jack, I see you both have fairly diverse musical tastes. Yeah, this is a bit sugary pop/rock, but infectious, all the same. Infectious, in a good way, I mean.

Patrick, You're so typical of a hateful American. Always trying to put people into categorized boxes. "crazy and non crazy", "male or female", "sinner or saint". All humans are equal, and the same, man. Even those who want you dead. Don't judge or use any of your God given discernment, because that's just not tolerant.

No wendela, that mental image you just gave me is wrong. Oh, so very, very wrong. Matzo Man isn't bootylicious enough to enjoy my kind of music.

YAY, my own security force! Better watch your cheating back, Matzo Man! I'm boring. My clothes are boring too. Massive piles of collared shirts and khaki shorts. I do have some thongs though......umm thong sandals that is.

I have heard of the delays, if only I could play my guitar to the tune. This is really good.
