The Post Where I Show Off My Infidel Political Spirit!

Barack Obama is headed to Texas to fight it out with rival Hillary Clinton in an attempt to win the lion's share of Lone Star State delegates and voters.

Meanwhile, there's some veeerrryyy interesting footage taken by Fox News yesterday morning at one of two newly opened Obama Campaign offices here in Houston. Watch the clip for yourself and make sure you're not doing anything physically demanding at around :18 seconds in. When your eyes spot what's hanging on the wall right behind the smiling staff, they'll widen with surprise and just may start bleeding uncontrollably.

(I understand that Senator Obama has no control over all his campaign people, but really, this is very poor judgment. Surely they knew that camera crews were on their way over.)

Sooooooo, I'm proposing a new business venture for anyone willing to put up some capital. We can start manufacturing the finest in fuzzy, red Che berets for immediate distribution.

Turning tragedy into triumph. That's the American entrepreneurial spirit!

I'll make you an extra special glittery red beret with a giant G on the front, glitter. How does that sound? And maybe some matching dresses sewn from the flag of Cuba.

Ohhhh, it's 2008 and we'll be super stylish great!

Go Cuba!
I mean....???

elasticwaistbandlady said...

Yes. If ever there was a WTF? Moment, this is it.

I know a few of my absolute favorite readers and commenters here are Obama supporters. I hope I handled this tongue-in-cheek enough that I won't forever offend them.

That is FUNNY! :) Who doesn't love a good Cuban now and again?

Holy crap!

This wasn't an isolated incident. Photos of other Che/Cuba flags hanging prominently behind Obama supporters has gone viral on the Internet. I'm too lazy to link some of the other ones I saw.

This is NOT to say that Obama is a Commie lover who basks in the murderous, power-hungry ways that was Che Guevara, but it is interesting to note that this is the persuasion of his hard-core campaigners.

I can't tell you how much I looovvveee seeing Che up on the wall of people trying to get our next President of the United States elected rather than, oh, you know something quaint and old-fashioned like the flag of the United States.

I am now completely undecided.

Maybe I will give NO ONE my vote.

Well, maybe he meant Cuba in a good way...like Cuba Gooding Jr. before he made any other movies other than Jerry McGuire...or Cuba for it's fine cusine, like a Cuba Pork sandwich....

I've popped over from Jams O'Donnell's blog. I've been enamoured of your Elasticwaistbandlady moniker for quite some time. Not sure why the Cuban Che flag would surprise you in the Obama camp. Che is a sexy revolutionary, and so is Obama.

I thought I could vote McCain this fall, but the more I digest his abysmal anti-conservative voting record and taciturn temper, I can't in good conscience do it.

I may leave the Presidential selection slot empty this fall for the first time ever in my voting history.

No matter how iconic Che has become there ain't nothing sexy about him.

Bee said...

Hee Ha Ha! Have I told you about my little brother Rick? He has Che's picture in every single one of our houses. The littl ebooger just sneaks them in and your left thinking "How the heck...??"

Stacey said...

Ummm..kay.

I have no idea who to vote for either. To me it's either vote for the devil..or their advocate.

Elizabeth-W said...

The last two elections I've voted 3rd party. I'm thinkin' there's not a good reason to blow my trend at this point.

WHAT THE?

I can't stand any of our "choices." Oh, what does one do?

Tori :) said...

OMGosh!! Where's my twin? What does she have 2 say about this???

Jean Knee said...

Maybe they just really like the cigars.

crap why don't some of Hilary's campaigners puy up some KKK posters while we're at it

Sketchy said...

Oh that's just lovely. really lovely. I'm so voting 3rd party this year. And then for the strongest rabid conservatives I can find for everything else, so that hopefully they can provide a balance to whichever idiot wins the White House.

My sister's an Obama supporter, but if I sent this to her I think she'd just get mad at me.
sigh.

So tell me what was so sexy about the atrosities Che committed? Somebody? Anybody?

BarnGoddess said...

omg!

I am so anti-Obama I cant see straight.

but you already knew that dint ya?

elasticwaistbandlady said...

Again, I'm certainly not saying that:
Obama=Che Guevara(Mass Murderer Extraordinaire)

I just feel profoundly uncomfortable with a man who refuses to wear the American flag pin on his lapel. Refused to hold his hand over his heart while the pledge was head. And has ardent campigners betrothed to the ideals set forth by Communists and Marxists.

Although, anyone who looks at his and Hillary's redistribution of wealth as ascertained by their Universal health care package proposals and the raising of taxed will know that at the very least we're talking about dangerous socialism here.

Not that McStain. oops, I mean McCain, is much better.

Can you say "Write-in Candidate?!!!?"

elasticwaistbandlady said...

I don't want to forever offend so of you whom I dearly love. You know who you are.

I couldn't contain my outrage over this but let's not let politics get between us. Even if you vote for Obama, I still like you.

I used to play the liberal game until I found that a lifestyle advocating a distinct lack of personal responsibility and promoting the ideas of a nanny state that babies you and tells you what to do brings nothing but misery.

Millie said...

Of course I can't speak for her, but I believe Tori's Twin and I will be having a little ballot bonfire this year...

This really, really sucks. I was obviously not going to vote for Hillary, and I can't stand McCain. And now this. I'm sadder about Rommey than ever.

There's hard times a-comin'.

P.S. "You dance like a homosexual!"

Are this people illiterate or something? How on earth does anyone think that displaying that murderer's face says anyhting about liberty or even humanity?

The bestest is the lady sitting at the desk. Her name is Miss Isabel and she's no stranger to Houston headlines.

I'll see if I can find the linkie for her.

Anyway, she fought against a building ordinance restricting her from building something crappy on her property. When she lost she had this to say:"This is MY property and this is AMERICA and you should be able to do what you want with YOUR PROPERTY IN AMERICA!!!!"

You can't have it both ways, baby dolly. Either you're beholden to Che and a personal Fidel red boot-licker or you're an American. Ummm, last time I looked Communist Cuba does not allow anyone to have personal property. Or personal rights. Or personal dignity.

What a drooling idiot.

Err someone's not looking to capture the Cuban-American vote then.....

That's very scary.

I too am very sad for the presidential election. I can't stand McCain, but I can't stand raising taxes more. We pay a gazillion (you read that right) dollars, and I can't spare another square.

Lisa said...

Miss Isabel needs a little slappy.

You still dance like a homosexual. With a rainbow feather duster, no less.

This post is buried enough for me to comment on it now, right? :)

Sure, the lady's crazy, and the volunteer in charge of that campaign headquarters should have been paying a little closer attention, but that doesn't have anything to do with Obama! She's some crazy lady who wanted to volunteer. It's not like she's on Obama's payroll. You'll find more [republican candidate] supporters with Confederate flags (a symbol that hits harder to more Americans than this, I'd imagine) on their trucks than you will Obama supporters with Cuban Che flags. This one's news because she volunteers for his campaign? Meh.

But make no mistake, if Elastic was running, she'd get my vote over any of the current candidates. Elastic '08!

elasticwaistbandlady said...

This is why I love you Omar. We can discuss things from totally opposite political perspectives without it getting heated and ridiculous. :)

I'm thinking about changing my voter registration to Independent simply because I'm more conservative than any Republican fool running on the national level.

I was just pointing out that this wasn't the first Che/Obama incident and that Obama needs to publicly remove himself from this kind of people and have his staffers weed out the crazies before getting press coverage. Your core supporters do reflect on you as a candidate. Don't think for a moment that people wouldn't have been in an uproar if it was revealed that a Republican Campaign Office had a Nazi or a COnfederate flag hanging up.

To be sure, Obama is a hottie. But his platforms and social programs if passed will cost this country approximately 196 BILLION dollars a year. Somebody has to pay for all that. That means higher taxes and a tighter squeeze on the middle class. I'm also concerned that he affiliates himself with anti-Israel advisors and friends including his own minister. His church declares themselves "African" and true to their native land. Ummmm, that seems kind of conflicted when you want to lead America. I don't like how he's on the campaign trail talking about how we need to stop building Iraqui infrastructure and re-focus that money towards America when he wrote the Global Poverty Act that he's trying to get pushed through even at this very moment. That would make all Americans pay a "global tax" and will cost something like 800 billion over what we already pay out for foreign aid. The United Nations have proven themselves inept and incapable of handling our money (Oil For Food) Obama tells people he'll keep our money here while writing up bills to send our money all over the world.

None of the three candidates in the lead for President right now are exactly thrifty. I'm fearful that soon people working hard and struggling already like Papi and me will be taxed out of our homes and cars..... and taxed out of our minds. We tithe 10 percent of our income. I have a clear conscience. I don't want a redistribution of wealth through taxes.

I was trepidatious writing this because I already knew how you felt about the guy. I've been blog friends with jams odonnell for 2 years and he's a hard-core liberal. We disagree on almost everything......but in a kind and gentle way. :) Still friends, Omar?

I told you I liked Omar!!
:)

I'd vote a Elastic/Omar ticket yo.

Please read the whole truth on Snopes in regard to Obama not putting his hand over his heart during the National Anthem (not pledge of allegiance). Notice the pictures & videos as well. Not all is how some people try to make it seem. Know both sides of the story before you add to the bs.

elasticwaistbandlady said...

This post wasn't about him not properly showing respect. But now that you mention it he should have known that you are to put your hand over your heart during BOTH the Pledge and the National Anthem.

If you read above, my issues with Obama as a candidate run much deeper. I'm not exactly dancing in the streets over any of the candidates though and I didn't paint Obama in any undignified terms that can't be backed up by fact. Look up his Global Poverty Act he authored and how he wants to send billions of dollars away and not direct them here at home like he's telling people on the campaign trail. Israel is our strongest ally in the Middle East and the best hope for establishing democracy and peace in the region. Obama surrounds himself with people steeped in anti-Israel sentiments. Do not be so easily fooled and led, anonymous. I don't really give a flying fart who the hell you vote for. Just educate yourself with the facts first and don't rely on Obama.com and NPR solely to give you the straight sh*t.
